Cant get rid of the 5k challenge

Its either a glowing notification that you cant remove or if you mistakenly accept the challenge, it shows up everywhere and you can get rid of it. I understand that they make money on the associated merchandise, which is fine by me, but somewhere along the way there was a product manager who thought that "hey, will get more impressions on this if we dont let people opt out" which is probably true, but deserves an instant one star from me.
